Peter Loftus

Peter Loftus

Peter Loftus moved to Hawaii Island in 2019, drawn by the light and the opportunity to be near his children. Renowned in California for his rich landscape paintings, Peter has turned his brush to capturing the beauty of the Island.

Born in Washington DC, Peter holds an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. He moved to Santa Cruz in 1975 and set about documenting the California coast. He taught Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Drawing, and Painting, in both oil and aqueous media at the University of California Santa Cruz, until his retirement in 2021.

Widely exhibited over his long career, Peter's work has been avidly collected by public, corporate, and private collections, including General Electric, Heinz Corporation, and Hunter Museum, TN.
