Shun Tsukazaki

Shun Tsukazaki

Born and raised in Hilo, Shun began his journey into ceramic art over thirty years ago at Hilo High School. Shun is a dedicated ceramics wheel-throwing instructor who enjoys the art of sculpting, drawing inspiration from the Big Island's rich textures of lava rock and wood. He is an enthusiast of the hands-on process of raku firing and is currently exploring the earthy qualities of a very dark clay body, continuously delving into the depths of his craft.

Shun's work is characterized by an innovative use of form, texture, and size that reflect personal introspection, relationships and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
He creates new collections and commissions in his home studio and continues to push the boundaries of what is possible is ceramic art, creating work that is both beautiful and thought-provoking.
