Sugi Pine Bowl by Joshua Greenspan

Joshua Greenspan is an artist, arborist, and sawyer based in Waimea, Hawaii. Shaped by a lifelong relationship with the land, his work is rooted in curiosity, stewardship, and a deep respect for the natural world. Working closely with trees has given Josh a profound appreciation for the individuality, grain, and story held within each piece of wood—a perspective that naturally drew him to bowl turning. For Josh, milling and turning become acts of revelation—uncovering the wood’s inherent beauty while allowing the tree’s story to live on through functional art. 

He is the founder of Kamuela Hardwoods, a sawmill business dedicated to sustainably salvaged, locally sourced wood and lives in Waimea with his wife and young son.
