A paradigm is an underlying thought pattern shaping the world in which we live. Often we’re not even aware of its presence. Whether we like it or not, our world is currently going through a paradigm shift of epic proportions.

I’m depicting this shift in terms of the complementary colors Orange and Blue. Complementary colors placed side-by-side make one another brighter. When mixed together, they dull one another down and turn to “mud.”

“The Space Between” represents gap between the different paradigms we face. If you feel “triggered” by the changes we’re going through or rhetoric of today’s world, focus on the space between, pause, take a breath, regain your equilibrium, and carry on with your day. - Patrice Federspiel

Patrice Federspiel creates masterful watercolor paintings featuring a wide range of subject matter. Some works evoke the drama of Hawaii’s brightly colored flora and fauna, while others take you quietly within as you contemplate her inspiring abstracts. 

Patrice is a signature member, trustee, and past president of the Hawaii Watercolor Society and has received numerous awards for her work. She teaches workshops at the Honolulu Museum of Art and can often be found painting at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel in Honolulu.
