The silk surrounding the image has been painted with Jacquard pearlescent fabric paint which is permanent and lightfast. It gives the silk a luminescent look while still showing the texture of the silk. The piece represents the circle of Life and was inspired by the feeling Jim had upon bringing his father to Hawaii.
