A paradigm is an underlying thought pattern shaping the world in which we live. Often we’re not even aware of its presence. Whether we like it or not, our world is currently going through a paradigm shift of epic proportions.

I’m depicting this shift in terms of the complementary colors Orange and Blue. Complementary colors placed side-by-side make one another brighter. When mixed together, they dull one another down and turn to “mud.”

Of Two Minds is the fourth painting in the Paradigm Project. Oneness prevails, whether the world is of one mind or two. The apparent differences are "cosmetic." Too long have we been concerned with the external, that which can be seen. The invisible is essential to the heart, to our wellbeing, to life. Our invisibles unite us. - Patrice Federspiel

Patrice Federspiel creates masterful watercolor paintings featuring a wide range of subject matter. Some works evoke the drama of Hawaii’s brightly colored flora and fauna, while others take you quietly within as you contemplate her inspiring abstracts. 

Patrice is a signature member, trustee, and past president of the Hawaii Watercolor Society and has received numerous awards for her work. She teaches workshops at the Honolulu Museum of Art and can often be found painting at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel in Honolulu.
