This image came to me in a dream in the midst of painting the paradigm series. A paradigm is an underlying thought pattern shaping the world in which we live, so while this painting is decidedly different from the Paradigm Paintings, it is related. 

Although the dream image was black and white, the colors are essential. As with the Paradigm paintings, it was important to keep the colors bright. While there’s no comparison to the images we’re receiving from the James Webb Space Telescope, this piece holds the energies of the universe.

We can either spend our times noting our differences or noting our similarities. In the end, it doesn’t really matter. We’re all made up of the “same stuff” put together in myriad ways. We are all interconnected. - Patrice Federspiel

Patrice Federspiel creates masterful watercolor paintings featuring a wide range of subject matter. Some works evoke the drama of Hawaii’s brightly colored flora and fauna, while others take you quietly within as you contemplate her inspiring abstracts. 

Patrice is a signature member, trustee, and past president of the Hawaii Watercolor Society and has received numerous awards for her work. She teaches workshops at the Honolulu Museum of Art and can often be found painting at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Hotel in Honolulu.
